Biography
Joseph Guisti earned his PhD from Northwestern University in 2019. His doctoral work, based in Mexico City, traces efforts by addiction treatment centers, state and local governments and mental health clinicians to eliminate violence in the treatment of substance abuse disorders. He has been teaching sociology courses at Northwestern, primarily in the School of Professional Studies (NU SPS), since 2015. He also serves as faculty director of SPS’s new online-only BS in Social Sciences scheduled to launch in Fall of 2023. In addition to his work at Northwestern, he serves as Data Strategist and Research Coordinator at INVC, a street violence reduction nonprofit operating in multiple south and west side neighborhoods in Chicago.
