Kate Weisshaar Joins the Northwestern Faculty

We are delighted to announce that Professor Kate Weisshaar has joined the Northwestern Sociology faculty as an Associate Professor! Professor Weisshaar received her B.A. in Sociology from our own department in 2010 and went on to earn a Ph.D. from Stanford and then to work at the University of North Carolina. We are thrilled to welcome her back!

Professor Weisshaar is a preeminent scholar of gender, work, and social inequality. In her scholarship, she employs a wide range of quantitative methods to examine how inequalities are sustained. Her teaching focuses on gender, the family, the workplace, and the intersection of social inequalities. At Northwestern, Professor Weisshaar is also appointed as a Fellow at the Institute for Policy Research.
