$1 Million Gift: Funds for Sociology Research & Graduate Training

The Department of Sociology is thrilled to announce a $1 million gift from alumnus Steven Zhuge. This generous contribution will establish two new endowments, the Zhuge Family Fund for Faculty Research and the Zhuge Family Fund for Graduate Scholarship, providing enduring support for innovative scholarship across the department.
A graduate of Northwestern Sociology, Steven earned his M.A. in 2004 under the mentorship of Professor Bruce Carruthers.
At a time when the broader funding landscape is increasingly difficult, these new resources arrive at a crucial moment. They will bolster faculty research, expand opportunities for graduate students, and help ensure that Northwestern continues to thrive as one of the nation’s premier sociology departments.
