Our department members left the annual meeting of the ASA (held in Montreal in August 2017) with ample recognition of their accomplishments:
Robert Braun (Ph.D. 2017) won prizes for his work from three sections of the ASA: Religion, Comparative-Historical Sociology, and Altruism, Morality, and Social Solidarity.
Alka Menon (Ph.D. 2018) received the Graduate Student Paper Award from the Body and Embodiment Section.
Kellie Owens (Ph.D. 2017) received the Graduate Student Paper Award from the Science, Knowledge, and Technology Section
Hannah Wohl (Ph.D. 2017) received the Student Paper Award from the Consumers and Consumption Section.
In addition, two recent Northwestern Ph.D.’s, Robert Vargas and Nicole Van Cleve, were presented with book awards for work based on their dissertations, and Nicole along with Armando Lara-Millán, another recent Ph.D., won an article award.
Congratulations to our colleagues!
