Biography
Yi Ming Ng is a PhD student in Sociology and Management & Organizations at Northwestern. His research explores how institutions can better serve society through grounded perspectives. Current projects examine the corporate purpose movement and broader forms of prosocial change in markets, focusing on valuational, cultural, and relational mechanisms. This work has received multiple accolades, including the 2024 SSSP Best Paper Award in Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation and the 2022 Leave a Nest Grant Global Challenge Award, recognizing five young researchers in Singapore tackling global grand challenges. Yi Ming was also named 2024 Student of the Year by B Academics, the global Business for Good research network, for his academic community-building.
